About Sonovo.

Below are some of the most common questions about who we are, what we do, and how our products support people living with tinnitus every day.

Who is Sonovo?

Sonovo is a UK-based brand dedicated to helping people manage tinnitus through innovative bone conduction audio products. Our goal is to make relief accessible, comfortable, and natural, without medical intervention.

Are Sonovo products medical devices?

No. Sonovo products are not medical devices and are not intended to cure tinnitus. They use sound-based relief methods that can help reduce tinnitus contrast and promote calm through gentle auditory stimulation.

Do you donate to charity?

Yes. 5% of every purchase is donated to Tinnitus UK, supporting awareness, education, and research into tinnitus care.

Bone conduction & tinnitus relief.

Learn how bone conduction works, why it’s safe, and how it can help reduce the contrast of tinnitus through gentle, natural sound transmission.

How does bone conduction help tinnitus?

Bone conduction transmits sound vibrations through your cheekbones directly to the inner ear, bypassing the eardrum. This helps reintroduce natural sound to the auditory system, reducing the contrast between tinnitus and silence.

Is bone conduction safe?

Yes. Bone conduction is a well-established, non-invasive audio method used safely in medical and consumer devices for decades.

Will bone conduction cure my tinnitus?

No, there is currently no known cure for tinnitus. Sonovo products are designed to make tinnitus less intrusive and help you adapt through consistent sound exposure.

How long before I notice results?

Many users experience a sense of calm within days, but tinnitus relief is gradual. With regular use, the brain begins to adapt, making tinnitus less noticeable over time.

Getting started with Sonata 2.0

How do I turn my Sonata 2.0 on and off?

Press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds to turn it on. The blue light will flash to confirm it's powered on. Press and hold the same button for about 3 seconds again to turn it off.

How do I pair Sonata 2.0 with my phone?

When you turn Sonata 2.0 on, it automatically enters pairing mode. Open Bluetooth settings on your phone and select "Z-Sleep" from the list of available devices. Once connected, the blue light will stay on steadily.

Will it remember my phone next time?

Yes. Sonata 2.0 remembers the last device it was paired with and will try to reconnect automatically each time it's turned on.

How do I connect a different device?

Disconnect Sonata 2.0 from your current device in its Bluetooth settings first, then follow the pairing steps above on the new device.

How do I fit and use Sonata 2.0?

Sonata 2.0 is designed to be placed under your pillow, not worn. The silicone pad should face down, with the plastic shell facing up so it sits comfortably against the pillow surface. Position it in the centre of the pillow, and sleep with your ear close to that spot for the best sound.

How long does it take to charge?

About 3 hours using the supplied USB-C cable. The light near the charging port stays on while charging and turns off once it's fully charged. You can still use Sonata 2.0 while it's charging.

How long does the battery last?

Up to around 20 hours of playback, depending on your volume level and how you use it.

Getting started with Sonovo Unison

What's in the box?

Your Unison glasses, a certificate, instructions, a warranty card, a cleaning cloth, a small hexagon screwdriver, two spare screws, and a zinc-air battery (model PR48).

How do I fit the temples and get started?

Unison ships with the temples (arms) detached. Take the battery out of its packaging, peel off the battery film, and wait 60 seconds before installing it. Fit the temples onto the frame at a slight angle first, then push them in parallel until secure. Adjust the position of each vibrator so it sits snugly against your head, just in front of your ear, then tighten the temples using the supplied screwdriver.

Does Unison use a rechargeable battery?

No. Unison runs on a replaceable PR48 zinc-air battery rather than a rechargeable one. Please don't attempt to recharge it, as the manual specifically advises against this.

How do I turn Unison on and adjust the volume?

Each temple has its own on/off and volume control. There are three volume levels to choose from, so you can find what's comfortable for you. Please power the device off when it's not in use.

Can the arm length be adjusted?

Yes, in five small increments using the supplied screwdriver.

How do I know if the battery is low?

You'll hear a repeated "beep-beep" alert. When you hear this, it's time to replace the battery. If you have vibrators on both sides, we recommend replacing both batteries at the same time.

Where can I find the full instruction manual?

You can find and download the full instruction manuals for Sonata 2.0, Unison, and our previous models on our downloadable resources page.

How do I clean my device?

Use a soft cloth or a disinfecting cotton swab, lightly dampened with medical alcohol (70-75%), to wipe the parts that contact your skin. Let it air dry fully before wearing again, and keep it away from open flames while damp with alcohol.

Troubleshooting - common questions

We're currently overhauling our customer care resources to make them clearer and more helpful. This page is a work in progress and we're adding to it regularly. If your issue isn't covered here, please reach out to us at customercare@sonovo.co.uk and our team will help directly.

My Sonata 2.0 won't turn on

Check the battery has charge, then press and hold the power button for a full 3 seconds. A quick press won't be enough to power it on.

Sonata 2.0 keeps turning itself off

If it's switched on but not connected to a device via Bluetooth, it will automatically power off after about 5 minutes to save battery. Simply reconnect and it will stay on as normal.

I can't connect it to my phone

Check whether the blue light is fast-flashing. If Sonata 2.0 is already connected to another device (like a different phone or speaker), you'll need to disconnect it from that device first before it can pair with a new one.

My partner can hear it too

Try lowering your phone's volume to below 50%. This gives a softer, more private sound. Volumes above 50% are intended for more immersive listening rather than private night time use.

The volume seems too low

Sonata 2.0 doesn't have its own separate volume control. Volume is adjusted from your phone, so try increasing it there first.

How does the sleep timer work?

Double-press the M button once to start a timer that turns Sonata 2.0 off automatically after around 30 minutes (the green light will flash slowly to confirm). Double-press again to extend this to around 60 minutes. A third double-press turns the timer off completely.

Unison troubleshooting

I'm hearing whistling or feedback

This is usually caused by one of a few things: the glasses aren't sitting quite right, the volume is set too high, the vibrators aren't making close contact with your head, or the microphone is being blocked by your hand or something nearby. Try repositioning them, lowering the volume, and making sure the microphone is clear.

Unison has gone silent

First check it's switched on, then check the battery isn't low or depleted. Also check that both vibrators are making proper contact with your head, as a poor fit can cause this. If none of that helps, the vibrator itself may be damaged and you should contact our team.

Is Unison waterproof?

No, please remove it before washing your face, showering, swimming, or heading out in the rain, and take it off during high frequency or ultrasound treatments, high temperature spas, or thunderstorms. If it does get wet, don't use a hair dryer on it. Instead, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and let it air dry naturally in a well-ventilated space.

General troubleshooting

My device has stopped working. What should I do?

If you've been through the steps above and it's still not working as expected, please get in touch with our customer care team at customercare@sonovo.co.uk with your order number and a short description of the issue. Please don't attempt to take the device apart yourself.
